What does "interchange-plus" mean, in plain English?
Every card transaction has a wholesale cost set by the card networks and the issuing banks, called interchange. We pass that through at cost and add a fixed 0.30% + 10¢ on top. That's our whole margin on processing, and it's printed on every statement. A flat "2.6% + 10¢" rate hides the wholesale cost and pockets the difference on debit and rewards cards.
Is "cash discount" legal in Alaska?
Yes, when it's done properly: the posted price is the cash price, the card price is disclosed before the sale, and the receipt shows the service fee as its own line. Quantic prints it that way out of the box, and we supply the required signage with every cash-discount install.
What are the pass-through fees?
The processor charges a few fixed monthly items: keeping the merchant account on file, PCI compliance, and statement access. Together they come to about $34 a month. We bill them at the processor's cost with no markup, and they're itemized on your first statement so you can check.
Can I switch doors later?
Yes. Move from cash discount to Own it, or the other way, any month. There is no term on either door, so nothing to buy out. The only exception is $0 upfront, where the hardware is paid back through the program; leaving early means buying out the remaining hardware balance.
Is installation really included?
Yes. We configure every device on our bench in Anchorage, bring it to your counter (or ship it network-ready outside the road system), set it up, and train the staff on shift. There's no install line item and no hourly onboarding fee.
What about a seasonal business?
Ask about Winter Freeze. We bill software for the seven months you're open and pause it for the five you're not, on any tier. Hardware stays yours; when you reopen we turn the licenses back on.
